Commissioned by the Alan R. Pearlman Foundation, this 18x24” poster celebrates 50 years of the ARP Odyssey (1972). Following their semi-modular synth in the previous year, 1971 (the Model 2600), the Odyssey was a fully integrated monosynth and won a huge following of artists too long to list - but iconic players included Herbie Hancock, Gary Numan, Kraftwerk and many, many more.

This poster is a twist on the marketing materials of the original, but instead of featuring a list of features, each link quotes the most famous artists in their praise for the synth.

Examples of the text on the poster:

1982 - "The solo for 'Hymn' was done on Billy Currie's Odyssey using the flanger with a Marshall Time Modulator, and the second oscillator switching octaves to give it our special sound for Ultravox" - Warren Cann (Ultravox), Electronics & Music Maker.

1974 - Deep Purple’s Jon Lord solos like a
man possessed on ‘Space Trucking’ using two Odyssey's for the 'Live in California 74' concerts at the Ontario Motor Speedway, Los Angeles.

Possibly the most famous track to feature the ARP Odyssey is ‘Chameleon’ by Herbie Hancock. Here’s a great live version from 1974.
